【摘要】:Theproceduredescribedinthispracticeisusedtodesignandconstructanasphalt-rubbercapesealthatwillprovideawearingcoursewhensubjectedtolowtomediumtrafficvolumesandwherethepavementdistressisduetoblock-typecrackingresultingfrompavementagingorreflectivecrackingonly(notwherethereareclearindicationsoffatiguecrackingduetorepeatedheavyaxleloads).Note28212;BlockcrackingisdefinedinPracticeD6433.SeeAppendixX1foranexampleofblockcrackingduetoaging.1.1Thispracticecoversasphalt-rubbercapeseal,whichisdefinedastheapplicationofanasphalt-rubbersealcoatplacedontoanexistingpavementsurface,followedbytheapplicationofaconventionalTypeIIorIIIslurryseal.Note18212;Anasphalt-rubbersealcoatisalsoknownasastressabsorbingmembrane(SAM)whichconsistsofanasphalt-rubbermembranesealfollowedbytheapplicationofprecoatedaggregatechips.1.2Anasphalt-rubbercapesealiscommonlyusedtoextendtheservicelifeoflowtomediumtraffickedandmoderatelydistressedasphalt-surfacedpavements.Theexistingpavementconditioncanbeusedtodeterminetheapplicationratesfortheasphalt-rubberbinderandaggregateaswellastheaggregategradation.Pavementsinrelativelypoorconditionwillrequireacoarseraggregatewithahigherbinderapplicationrate.1.3ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
